GERMANY: Afghan Migrant Wanted For Four Different Crimes Released By Police After Exposing Himself To Children

An asylum seeker in Dessau, Germany, has been released from police custody after exposing himself to two teenage girls. Although the unnamed Afghan man is wanted for committing four other crimes, police released him from custody with a warning.

According to a press release issued by the Federal Police Inspectorate of Magdeburg, the disturbing incident occurred last Friday outside of the Dessau central train station. The 21-year-old migrant reportedly exposed his genitals outside the main entrance of the train station in front of the young girls, who quickly reported the incident to police.

“On Friday, August 9, 2024, at around 6:30 p.m., a 21-year-old did not consider it necessary to maintain his good manners,” reads the statement.

In addition to committing the exhibitionistic act in front of the two minors, a police review of his criminal record revealed that the man is wanted by several prosecutors, including the Dessau-Roßlau public prosecutor’s office for robbery, the Kiel public prosecutor’s office for property damage, the Lüneburg Celle branch of the public prosecutor’s office for property damage and theft, and the Koblenz public prosecutor’s office for illegal residence without a permit.

Despite avoiding pre-trial detention, the man faces a fine or up to one year in prison if convicted for his exhibitionistic act under Section 183 of Germany’s Criminal Code.

Disturbingly, the code also notes that the man could avoid a prison sentence altogether if the court determines “that the offender will not engage in any more exhibitionistic acts until after a lengthy medical treatment.”

News that the Afghan migrant was released from custody sparked outrage among members of Germany’s most popular right-wing political party Alternative for Germany (AfD), who published a report calling on the government to deport foreign criminals and put a stop to mass immigration.

“The incident reminds us once again that women and girls must finally be protected by consistently deporting foreign criminals and stopping mass migration,” exclaims the party in a report for its magazine, AfD Kimpact.

Pointing to the continual urge for officials to ignore the implication mass immigration has had on Germany, the party continues:

“The AfD will implement a consistent repatriation policy so that such crimes are no longer part of the sad everyday life in our country!’

This is not the first example of a migrant with a criminal record receiving minimal consequences. As previously reported by The Publica, a 17-year-old asylum seeker from Syria recently avoided deportation despite committing over three dozen crimes in two and a half years, including attacking a family with a knife.

According to a press release issued by the Stuttgart Police Headquarters, the altercation occurred late last month after Kalil H got into a verbal fight with a group of people walking along Königstrasse.

The refugee and two unknown companions are alleged to have hurled insults at the family of five without provocation. Despite the family’s efforts to ignore the men, Kalil and his partners fled the scene to get knives before carrying out a brutal attack that left one man critically injured.
