A Libyan migrant is in police custody after attacking an elderly woman in her apartment in Saxony, Germany. Ursula D., 89, was feeling unwell and went to bed early when an 18-year-old climbed through her apartment window and began assaulting her.

According to BILD, the Libyan, who is known to be a repeat offender, broke into her apartment in the early evening, holding a can of beer. Targeting Ursula, he began to slap her in the face. The man never declared his motivations, which still remain unclear.

“I was terribly frightened – he hit me in the face with the palm of his hand – left, right, always alternating. Then, on the back. I’m in terrible pain here now,” she explained, adding that she screamed as loud as she could for help.

Upon hearing her screams, Ursula’s 66-year-old neighbor, who has a key to her apartment for emergencies, rushed to her rescue. But after opening the front door, he was immediately confronted by the Libyan, who proceeded to attack him as well.

“He hit me on the head with the beer can, then he kicked me in the face. He said something, but I didn’t understand it. It wasn’t in German,” explained the retired tenant.

Speaking with BILD, Mohammed, another resident in the building, explained that the migrant also tried to break into two other apartments in the building before fleeing police.

“He was also with us and was totally aggressive. I was very worried about my wife and children. We live on the first floor, and he came up here,” Mohammed explained.

Although the woman was rushed to the hospital for treatment, she expressed her fear that the man would come back.

“I get injections for the pain. But there is no medicine for the fear. I’m afraid the man will come back. The crime happened in broad daylight. I no longer feel safe in my apartment. Without the help of my neighbor, I don’t know what else would have happened,” Ursula said.

While the motive for the attack remains unclear, the 18-year-old, who is known to police for committing several crimes in the past, was eventually caught by police and sent to custody.

“The Libyan was charged with trespassing, damage to property and dangerous bodily harm,” said Jana Ulbricht, a spokesperson for the force, adding that a blood sample has been taken, and the results are pending.

This is not the first time German locals have been attacked unprovoked by migrants. As previously reported by The Publica, a mass stabbing event occurred last week in Solingen, Germany, during the city’s 650th “Festival of Diversity.”

The attack was carried out by an “Arab-looking man” in the Fronhof market square at around 7:45 p.m., who German officials were able to identify as 26-year-old Issa Al H., a member of the Islamic State group.

In addition to three people being killed, eight are reported to have been seriously injured during the attack, all of whom were stabbed in the neck.
